The Developers
Maple Grove Developments
Maple Grove Developments was formed 25 years ago as the development division of North West based Eric Wright Group.
Traditionally specialising in commercial development, with an emphasis on high quality retail, office and industrial accommodation, Maple Grove Developments is also particularly experienced in the regeneration and restoration of older sites into vibrant new mixed-use and residential schemes.
With a team consisting of individuals from legal, planning and agency backgrounds, Maple Grove operates a full service development solution, from site finding and acquisition, to planning, technical solutions and construction, and works closely with its sister division, Eric Wright Construction, to deliver buildings with genuine ‘whole life’ value.
Its tradition of working in partnership with landowners and local authorities, and its willingness to take a longer term approach to development, has led to a number of successful, high-profile schemes across the North West, including Daresbury Park business park near Warrington, Wainwright’s Yard in Kendal and a series of community health centres across East Lancashire and Wigan through the NHS LIFT initiative.
The Duchy of Lancaster
Founded in the 13th century, the Duchy of Lancaster is a unique portfolio of land, property and assets held in trust for the Sovereign in his or her role as Duke of Lancaster.
Today the Duchy of Lancaster is custodian of 18,800 hectares across England and Wales, including key urban developments, historic buildings, high-quality farm land and areas of great natural beauty.
All of the land and properties owned by the Duchy of Lancaster are tenanted and in productive use and as their owner, the Duchy of Lancaster has responsibilities to tenants, the community and the environment. Those who manage the Duchy of Lancaster aim to ensure that this ancient estate remains in good condition for future generations to work on, inhabit and enjoy.
At times, that means regenerating redundant buildings to ensure their continued use. With any regeneration projects, like that at Crewe Hall Farm, the Duchy of Lancaster is dedicated, where possible, to the retention of traditional architecture, job creation, sustainability and bringing new life to old buildings.
The restoration of Crewe Hall Farm represents the largest development project currently being undertaken on the Duchy of Lancaster’s land.
